Working Staycation

How was your Easter weekend?  I hope everyone had a great time and was surrounded by those you love. I normally spend Easter with my son and his family who live away, but as I was just down there the beginning of the month for my grand-daughter’s second birthday another $60 trip (for gas) was pushing it, I would have a stay-at-home holiday (my version of a staycation) instead.

I don’t know if it is spring fever (wishing for spring to get a move on) or if it was the combination of  Carol at Art and Sand (I really need to learn to take pictures like she does) and Rebecca at Trash Backwards but I had a working weekend/holiday.  Here’s what I have been up to.

Here is a picture of my company Friday afternoon and Saturday.

Yes, that’s the clock radio that stays hidden in the window unplugged until I want music.

Friday Faves, Part 2

thank-22016_640Welcome back, it’s Friday and time for me to finish last week’s thank you’s to my new readers.   I am amazed by how the blog has grown this year, and welcome all of you. If you have any suggestions I welcome them.

I am anticipating spring arriving sometime here, hopefully soon and have decided to make a small change to the blog.  After giving it much thought I have decided to stop publishing on the weekends.  This will work for me as Saturday’s I am usually alone (no company) which gives me some down time and time to get a few chores completed.  It will give you time to read at your leisure the Friday Faves over the weekend.

That said, it’s time to introduce the newest blogs.

A Bitter Sweet Symphony

Cause it’s a bitter-sweet symphony, this life, try to make ends meet, you’re a slave to money, then you die.  ~~The Verve,  Bitter Sweet Symphony

Change the World Wednesday, Water Footprint

This week Reduce Footprints has challenged us to take a closer look at our water footprint.  I knew about the carbon footprint, but hadn’t seen the water footprint tables.  I was in for a shock.

Before, After, In Between, And a Disaster

Things are finally starting to get done around here, so I have pictures to share with you of where everything is today.   I should start with the disaster, but instead I’ll share a few things you have already seen in the in between stage of.

Spring Cleaning, Not Exactly

While this is normally the time of year others start their spring cleaning, having just the studio apartment doesn’t need much cleaning.  That doesn’t mean there aren’t things needing to be done.

Free Sunday Fun

Spring still hasn’t been able to push old man winter out-of-town but I did receive a gift last night which has brought more spring into my space.

This morning I received another “gift” left for me outside my door.

Upcycling, What To Do With That Junk

I get asked all the time if I can use things people find, and that’s good it means they are thinking before tossing something in their trash.  It may be furniture, or even a piece of wood (which is what I made this coat rack from), and let’s not forget the shot glasses that I finally removed the lettering from.

I soaked them in hot water overnight then carefully scrubbed with a damp cloth and baking soda. It took a little time but it worked!  I know I haven’t shown you what I have done with them and that’s because I haven’t been able to get out and pick up what I need.  But these will be filled and repurposed as candles.

If Spring Doesn’t Want to Show, I’ll Make Spring Appear Inside

Winter is hanging on, so I am trying to infuse a little spring indoors. To me spring means new; new life, new growth, brighter light and lighter colors. If spring doesn’t want to visit me I am bound to bring a little spring inside my space by making a few things around here look new and fresh.

Side of the car, you can see the snow is nearly up to the handles on the doors.

Friday Favorites, My Thank You

Welcome back to Friday Favorites. I am so grateful to notice that my readership has doubled since the first of the year.  It really did take me a while to get the hang of blogging which showed in how long it took to get any attention to come my way, but what do you expect from someone who decided to start a blog without ever reading one before?

As I am way behind in welcoming my newer readers, I don’t want to completely overload you with reading material, so this is part one of two, yes I am really that far behind.

Today I would like to introduce you to the newest readers.   I am happy to say that each one has an unique voice and great content. I hope you will check them out.

Welcome to all the new people and accept my thanks with this edition of Friday Favorites, hope to see you join in with the conversations. If you don’t see your blog mentioned today check back next Friday for the second part.
